About Valerian Tincture: The aromatic and lacy Valerian flowers attract all varieties of pollinators, including butterflies. The roots of these plants have been valued for a long time for their keen affinity for lending ease to the human nervous system. The many gifts that Valerian offers us have to do with the root's calming and diffusive effect on the nervous system and on the senses. Restful sleep is essential for overall well-being, and Valerian is supportive for folks who, on occasion, wrestle with disturbed sleep. Valerian supports deep sleep for people whose natural sleeping rhythms are occasionally disrupted by stress, travel, overwork, emotional upset, or muscle tightness.
Valerian has a unique ability to help ease tension held in the muscles and joints, which in turn helps support the cardiovascular and digestive systems -- particularly when there is stress and nervousness involved. Many menstruating individuals find that Valerian is a great support pre-menstrually and during the early onset of menses for helping to ease physical tension. (Into the Flow helps lessen emotional tensions at such times).
Garden Notes: Delicate and aromatic Valerian flowers grace our gardens and many open fields along the coast of Maine. Some of our Valerian plants reach 6-7 feet tall when flowering! During a full moon, these lacy white flowers are quite magical to behold.
